2017 Here We Go!
It was a busy 2016 for us here on the farm. We built a 30′ x 96′ greenhouse from scratch and opened a retail greenhouse space May 1st. We expanded our workshare program and got to meet a lot of really neat people through that program. And in November we added a new member to our family. Our daughter, Eloise, was born eight hours after our last storage share of the season was delivered.
2017 looks to be another busy year. We are investing in our equipment and purchasing a Kult Kress finger weeder to improve our field cultivation (something that we believe will greatly increase our marketable yields). We are installing a grass waterway this spring to help mitigate some of the flooding issues we had in two of our fields. We are adding a few new bee hives since our honey was so popular with members. We are planting a new section of strawberries to hopefully be able to have a pick your own operation that can run concurrently with our retail greenhouse. And we are trying to improve our CSA boxes through implementing all of the lessons we have learned since we started farming in 2010 (okay, this last one is something we do every year!)
