Our Pledge

Organic4colorsealJPGAs of July, 2015 all of our fields are now USDA Certified Organic. Since we started farming in 2010 we have gone above and beyond the NOP guidelines. We do not spray any chemicals, even those approved for organic use. Instead we use extensive crop rotations, cultural controls, biocontrol methods like releasing parasitoid wasps to control cabbage moths, and selection of more disease resistant varieties of vegetables. We do not plant into plastic because we would rather hoe than add waste to the landfill each year.

Since we began the transition process back in 2011 to become certified organic we have worked closely with MOSA. Each year an agent comes to our farm to inspect our fields, growing structures, and our records to renew our certification. We have an Open Door Policy for all of our members and all of the records and a tour of our fields are available at any time. For more information on our certifying agent you can go to their website.

In 2019 we became members of the Dane County Farmer’s Market (DCFM). You will see us vending every Wednesday from May through early November, and on Saturdays in May and early June. We also vend at the Holiday Market at the Monona Terrace and at the Late Winter Market at Garver Feed Mill. In 2023, Kate was voted onto the Board of Directors for the DCFM for a three year term. If you have any questions about the market, please reach out and we will answer to the best of our ability, or help guide you to the right resources.

In 2021 we applied and were accepted to become Real Organic Project certified. All of our produce is certified through this non-profit as being Certified Organic and grown directly in the soil. This certification does not apply to our annual bedding plants as we do not try to certify those plants as USDA Organic. For more information check out their website!

In 2022, we joined the Sun Prairie Farmers’ Market. We typically vend May through mid-June with our retail plants. Then we take a break for a few weeks to tend to our fields before we return with produce mid-July. We vend all the way to the end of the market the last Saturday in October. This is one of our favorite markets to attend. There are frequent events, live music, and a very relaxed atmosphere.
