2/18 – This Week on the Farm

By admin|February 18, 2010|Information

It’s our first ever update online of whats going on here at Burr Oak CSA! We’ve already had a busy late winter season, ordering seeds, getting the greenhouse ready, and creating this website. But now we are starting to actually get down to growing! This week we rebuilt our germination boxes that provide our seeds and young seedlings a nice warm place to grow in these very cold days. Today our bulb-onion seeds went into plug trays – it’s our first crop to be started. There are four varieties planted each a little different. We have a red, a white, and a yellow, and then a “Candy Hybrid” which is supposed to be the size of a softball! We hope to keep this updated weekly so that everyone can know what’s happening here, even if you can’t make it out to the farm yourself. Can’t wait until these seeds pop through – that will be a sure sign that spring is on its way!
