Every week before we send out the boxes we give you a heads up on what will be in your box. Hopefully this will help you plan your meals for the week.
Things are still starting to take off in the gardens, so this first box will be smaller and contain fewer items than most weeks. This week we will have the following items in your box:
Herb Pack: Contains the following herbs for you to plant in a pot this summer so you can season all of your wonderful veggies: English Thyme, Parsley, Sage, Oregano, Chives, Cilantro
Romaine Lettuce- Ridgeline
Scallions- Hardy Bunching Onions
Radishes- French Breakfast
Radish- Rudolf (Don warns that this one is pretty hot)
Strawberries- Midway, Annapolis, Honeyoye, or Jewel
Asparagus- From Priske’s Asparagus Farm in Rio, WI (Note: These are not produced using organic methods. Our asparagus patch needs another few seasons to fill in, so in the meantime we are supporting another local farmer)

looking forward to it! We’ve pickled all our radishes already. Need some more for salsa!
also, have you two ever thought of doing rhubarb? I’m not sure how practical that is, or if it would take awhile before you could offer it. Just would be so grea with the strawberries…
We have planted rhubarb, but it takes several years to get large enough where you can harvest enough off of each plant. Hopefully next year!
So excited to get our box tonight. Now I just have to plan how to use everything!
I got my first tote of fresh produce yesterday. Can’t wait to hit the kitchen this weekend! I’m very excited to be involved with Burr Oaks this year; each week will bring a new surprise!
Thank you for offering this up to the employees at our company.
My first tote, last week, was just wonderful! I’ve been having a great time making sure that every single bit of it gets consumed. It has all been so yummy and fun having the fresh produce. I really enjoy the recipes on the back of the newsletter – I’ve already tried two of them: the braised radishes and the cucumber/radish creamy salad.
Awesome! We are so glad you have enjoyed your produce.
